Something's Gotta Give

Happy Sunday, peeps!

I took a well-deserved break in front of the TV this Sunday evening (can't remember last time), and this old film was showing, Something's Gotta Give. I really used to love that movie, and I've seen it many times, but I just couldn't change the channel when I swapped into it. It is one of the sweetest movies that I know of. Romantic without being cliché (not that many films can handle that).

What I really like about this movie, besides of the story itself, is the summer house. I almost had to pause the film the first time I saw it (once I was babysitting for my neighbor's children I think) just to take a closer look at that beautiful house. I'm so going to have a house like that one day. White. With many windows, many books, many lamps. In The Hamptons. Or in France, that'll do too.

Btw, I hope I'll look like Diane Keaton when I turn 60. She really is stunning!

Those were good times

With exams coming up, it is not exactly that much fun to be talking about at the moment. To remind me that life doesn't always suck as much as it does now, I was looking at some pictures from a while back. When I used to have fun. Like for instance, when my sister was visiting me in February. We went to VilVite (a 'knowledge center', kind of) and believe me – we were like kids again. Good times!

Those sure were good times! Not much of it now a days..

But. I know there will be more good times in the near future. In exactly one month from this day, my sister and I are going to my favorite place on earth: PARIS!

Can't wait!!

Housewife material

Usually when I'm in the middle of my exams, I stay at school till very late, which often makes me skip dinner. The last couple of weeks I think I've cooked like once or twice. I try to remind myself that good, healthy meals are important, especially when it's the exam period. But I usually make the easiest, quickest thing to make, most days something I can make at school. That works every once in a while, but not many days in a row. Then my body won't get so pleased. I feel tired and with no energy. So due to my bad conscience, today, I've been making soup and bread rolls for dinner. I went home a bit earlier than usually (read: around 4 p.m.) just to make dinner.

I'm a real soup girl. Among my favorites are onion soup, carrot soup, spinach soup and cauliflower soup (I'm sure I've forgotten some). Anyways, today I made cauliflower soup for the first time. I've always wanted to make it myself. And it was so easy, and also quite quick. And you barely need anything; a couple of cauliflowers, chicken stock, cream, and some salt and pepper, and you're there!

You'll need two of these

Cut one of them in pieces and boil it (among with broccoli if you like) for a minute or two.

Then leave it in cold water for a while.

Bring the other cauliflower (also cut in pieces) in to the same water (just add the chicken stock), and let it boil for about 20 minutes.

In the mean while, you can make some rolls.
(Bought bread works fine as well, if so, you can skip this part..)

Rolls in the making!

Then after 20 minutes, use a hand-blender to make in nice and smooth!

Till it looks like this!

Then you add the cream and bring it back to boil!

The last couple of minutes you add the vegetables you left aside, and some salt, pepper etc.

Then, don't forget the rolls!

And you've got yourself a nice meal!
(And lunch for the following day, if you are single and eating alone, like me)

Bon appétit!
