Sufjan Stevens

One of my absolute favorite artists now – and forever – is a man called Sufjan Stevens.

He makes music like no one else. It's calm, but still not ballade. There are unexpected sounds and instruments. And most important, he has made some pieces of music I can listen to over, and over, and over again. I'm never done. And that doesn't happen too often to me.

My favorite song is a quite long one.. And I always need to listen to all of it. So if you have 25 minutes you don't know what to do (probably not on a Saturday night..), you should listen to this song. Believe me, you won't regret. This song is like a journey. A journey to... heaven!

Impossible Soul – Sufjan Stevens

Other faves are:

All delighted people – Sufjan Stevens

Chicago – Sufjan Stevens

 Vesuvius – Sufjan Stevens

This really makes me wonder why I haven't recommended Sufjan before!

DIY: Felted Slippers

Remember my sneak peek a while ago? Me knitting something?

Well, that "something" was, as the title reveals, slippers!

Finally I'm able to show you the result! Though the cold season is soon to be over, probably. But then again, you are never too sure in Norway..!

Actually, this is my third pair, so I've finished some already. But I gave them away before taking pictures! First I gave a red pair to my sister, then a green one to my mother. So this is my third pair, these are, as you will see, blue. I was thinking making a pair in different colors to the whole family, so that everyone knows which pair belongs to whom. Well that is, if my brother and father would want them as well, of course.

They are very easy and quick to make, even for those who are not a knitting expert, like myself. I've never before knitted anything but scarfs. And now, after having done it a couple of times, I can finish one slipper in one evening.

Here is the recipe for those who might be interested (I'm sorry that it's only in Norwegian, but use google translation. And I'm also sure there are plenty similar recipes to be found)

Sorry that the picture is not the best, but it was sent to me by my roomie (who also teached me how to make them).

If you are not used to knit after recipes, I would probably ask someone (probably your mother or your grandmother, they would know how, I'm sure), cause it can be a bit hard to get it at first without any help.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures from "during the knitting", but this is the final result. Before the washing happened, as you probably understand...

...and here's how it looks when they are finished being washed (at 40 degrees)..

Then when they are still wet, you must put them on, so that they will form to your feet and not shrink in too much. If they do, or if they get too big, then you can just wash them a second time (I probably have to do that).

And then you have made yourself (or your friend, your sister, your mother, or your someone) new nice and warm felted slippers!

And then mission is completed!

I think I will make a new pair soon, so maybe I will show you more details then from "during the knitting process" later. If someone's interested.

Run Boy Run

Speaking of music..!

I've recently updated my work out playlist on Spotify. I am absolutely in need of good music that make me do my very best, and then some.

Summer is coming up (...) therefore, training is probably my highest priority after the studies. It is also very important to remember being active when the exams are just around the corner (according to my P.E. teaching mum), to receive enough energy. Weird as it might sound. But it is true. Anyways, to make the work out a bit more fun, it usually helps with good, and new energy giving music!

So here are some of my recently added faves:

We Can Make The World Stop – The Glitch Mob
Heartbreaker – MSTRKRFT
Blitz – Digitalism
Stay Crunchy – Ronald Jenkees
Atomic – She
Stamina – Vitalic
Sience of fear (The Count AKA Herve 'Medusa' Remix)  – The Temper Trap
The 2nd Law: Unsustable – Muse
Nightcall (Dustin N'Guyen Remix) – Kavinsky
Run Boy Run – Woodkid
Idiologie – Siriusmo
Where Did All The Love Go? – Kasabian
Yes – Sebastian

Run Boy Run – Woodkid

Want more inspiration? Just search for the different artists/groups, most of them got plenty of great work out songs!

BTW: The word 'spring' means 'run' in Norwegian. So I guess that is what this season should be for...

Oblivion soundtrack

Have you heard..?

The Norwegian (and quite unknown worldwide, I believe) singer Susanne Sundfør is featuring one of my definite favorites of all times, M83, in this soundtrack for the upcoming film Oblivion.

This is Norwegian and French connected in a perfect way in my eyes (read: ears).

I think this song will be my song of the month! Described in one word only: Majestic!

New rings!

Thank you, Ebay!

I wonder why I don't buy more stuff at the Internet. Especially when it comes to jewelry. Rings in particular. I've got some pretty nice pieces lately, to add to my growing collection. They were really cheap (meaning about 5 dollars, including shipping price, which was more expensive than the rings themselves..) and they where made of silver (except for the one with the flowered heart). When it comes to rings, that is quite important to me, since they need to stay pretty also after I've washed my hands some times. I've experienced many times rings that make my fingers blue, rings that rust, rings that break etcetera. Not fun when you really like the ring. So lately I've decided to buy less, but made of better materials, like silver or gold. As they say, quality before quantity.

Except when you can find cheap ones that are also real ones online, of course!

Aren't they nice? I didn't know my size in rings, so I just took a chance when buying them. The one with the peace sign was a bit smaller than expected, but that's not so bad – it fitted me perfectly a little bit higher up on the finger.

So, the recommendation of the day will be: online stores!

There are so many possibilities, so many nice things that are just waiting for you to discover them!

When it comes to me, unfortunately I happen to have a period without shopping (yes, I bought these rings before I decided to, promise). Me and my sister have committed a shop stop until we are going to Paris in June. To save some money before going, but also because we both happen to like nice clothes and accessories a bit too good. So it is also to challenge ourselves a little, you can say.

So sorry about the double moral I might give here.

Well, you are all in control of you own minds and actions, so I leave it to you to decide whether to go crazy online shopping, or if you will resist.

Easter is over

Happy belated Easter, peeps!

So, as you might have understood, my absence the last two weeks (almost) is due to the Easter holiday that just left. It really could have stayed longer, in my opinion.

Here is my holiday in pictures...

First I went to Haugastøl (somewhere in the Norwegian mountains, google it if interested) with my family

Me and my brother

Happy me!

Coolest kid in the mountains!

Pretty nice.

This chocolate, called Kvikk Lunsj is a definite must at Easter

The perfect view in my opinion.

When I wasn't skiing, I was knitting. A lot. (I will show you the result in not too long..!)

Then we went to Risør, a city in the southern part of Norway, where we have a summer house. It was a bit colder then expected (and our house is quite (c)old), I actually slept with a woolen sweater on!

It might be sunny, but yet so windy

Oups, somebody (Hansen among others..) forgot their boats before winter..!

My little cuteness!

Due to the coldness, we didn't stay that long in Risør, so we spent the rest of the holiday in Oslo. And it was pretty good that too.

Second hand market Vestkanttorget at Majorstuen, Oslo. One of my definite musts when in Oslo.

Daddy cool at the market

Many pretty, cheap things to be found...

...like funky retro sunglasses!

Random photo, but I really like this concept! Should be easy for a DIY..!

Then some Easter shopping with my sis.

She got herself this leather jacket from Zara. I'm kinda jealous!

Someone left me an Easter message at the toilet of a coffee shop: Bare vær deg selv – det er mer enn nok! (meaning, just be yourself, it is more than enough!)

Easter egg is absolutely a necessity!

Lots and lots of candy!

And that was about it! I just forgot taking photos from outside the opera, me and a friend were sitting at the roof in the sun before my train back at Sunday. It was actually my first time outside of it (I've just been there at Christmas before, and it has been dark and loads of snow)

Now it is back to reality, whether I like it or not. But I am actually taking some more days of vacation next week, and is going to Oslo again..! Cause I happen to have my birthday next week, and will join the Mumford and Sons concert the day before. Lucky me! So till then I really need to be quite effective!

And even though Easter is over, spring is here! The weather is nice, the sun stays up longer every day, the air is warmer. Spring tends to make everything easier. I like spring.
