So this is Christmas

This is my Christmas holiday in pictures - so far

A family tradition: The Nutcracker Ballet in the Opera house of Oslo (fun fact: I still haven't been there in the summer..)

Decorating of the Christmas tree. Everyone - including dogs - is helping

Grevinnen og Hovmesteren on TV the day before the day - not to be missed!

Ready for church on the 24th of December

Then risengrynsgrøt for lunch - searching for the almond...

The Christmas table is ready

My father's collection of carafes is also ready for Christmas

The coolest Christmas wrapping! I saved the paper. Of course I did

And I got a Nespresso machine, lucky me!

Christmas eve is exhausting!

Red nails are necessary for Christmas

As usual I'm bad at taking "outfit pictures", but here is a detail

DIY: Cookbook

It's probably a bit too late giving ideas for Christmas presents the 29th of December. But I couldn't show you this earlier, you see, because it was part of my gift to my sister this year. But maybe you get inspired to make it for yourself? Or, there will always be someones birthday or an other Christmas you could make it for.

Today I wanted to tip you about a DIY cookbook!

How I came up with this idea, is quite simple. Every time I went to my sister's place, her refrigerator contained of only a few things. She moved into her own apartment some months ago, and it seemed like she could use some advices and ideas for what to make for dinner. So I figured, why don't I help her a little on the way. I actually hated making dinner before I moved out of my parents' house. But since then, which is over three (!) years ago, this has changed. I still got a long way to go before I can call myself a chief, but still, I would say I've learned a little over the past few years. I've learned things like how to get the most out of my (limited) money and how to eat healthy and variated. And since my sister hasn't shown that much of a interest in cocking, I came up with this "first aid cookbook kit".

What kind of materials you want to use, is up to you! Give it your own personal touch!

What you need is:

1. A (blank) box. Well, only if you want to put it into a box, that is completely voluntary of course!

Mine is from Søstrene Grene (my favorite store!)

2. Papers. I used pink and ordinary white. Then I cut them so they fitted into the box.

3. Scissor and glue. I used both a normal scissor and also a one with a pattern for the white pages, as you can see in the picture above.

4. Your favorite recipes. Only your imagination can stop you! Mine where quite simple, as I wanted to show my sister that you don't need that many ingredients to make a nice meal. And also because I wanted them to fit into one small page. On the back, I wrote the method, step by step.

5.  Twine (or some kind of thread). Then when you have finished all the pages you want for the book, then it's time to   combine it all together. I made two holes in both upper corners, and used simple white twine (you see better in the last two photos).

Under you will find some examples of pages you can make. In addition to the recipes themselves, I also made some introducing pages with advices etc. (They are all in Norwegian, but I've tried to translate the title under each photo)

"Why am I getting this?"

"Some useful advices"

"You should always have this in your kitchen"

French dressing

Tomato sauce

Guacamole

Daddy's lasagne

Chicken with pasta

Pork with noodles

Salmon made in oven

"Fish cake" burger

And then the final result:

...and in its box:

Hope this was inspiring!
